Welcome!

First of all, a warm welcome to those stopping by to browse my home physiotherapy website, which is a work in progress!

My name is Clarence and I am a registered physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. I graduated from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia in 2011. After working in Brisbane for one year, I decided to move back to Toronto.

It was in 2017 when I started to regularly do home physiotherapy visits. There was a huge learning curve but what I enjoyed the most was that I was able to spend more time communicating and connecting with my patients. This in turn led to better outcomes. Without the passive modalities you’d normally see in private physiotherapy clinics like therapeutic ultrasound, shockwave therapy and TENS machines, my treatment approach evolved into a more movement-based type of physiotherapy. By engaging the patient and making them an active participant in the treatment plan (with their consent of course), it gave them a bit more self-awareness, knowledge, and confidence on how to self-manage their condition going forward.

The influx of content we see on the Internet and social media can be overwhelming at times and it may be difficult to trust what is out there. As a physiotherapist, I will say this. Bottom line – I advocate movement. Movement truly is medicine. You just have to start! Look at the big picture. Regular physical activity not only helps with your muscles & joints; it improves brain health, heart health, lung health, circulation, sleep quality, mood, etc. The list goes on!

I hope to touch on various topics in this blog section so please stay tuned.

Thanks for reading!
